According to the Injuries, Illnesses and Fatalities data form the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the construction industry was reported as the second leader in the state of Florida.  Manufacturing was ranked fifth, nevertheless, the results from the businesses does not surprise me.   It can be rationalized that in these highly repetitive jobs, once basic skills are attained workers may become complacent and safety measures are likely ignored.  Also, due to the constant changing involved in these industries, the environmental safety measures may become a burden for employers and workers, as a result they may not be properly being enforced.  As a consequence of ignoring these protocols the resulting severe penalties are a natural byproduct to ensure that safety for these employees are being upheld.

It can be further summarized that due to the low skill requirements and entry employment opportunities that are consistent with these industries, that it is not uncommon that they appear more frequently on these blotters that other sectors.  Construction workers require low level education and are labor intensive jobs, as such training in these industrial start-up position may not be a priority for these penalized companies.
